PR: ActiGraph Launches CentrePoint Cloud-based Study Management Software Platform
Pensacola, FL – July 7, 2015 – ActiGraph, the leading provider of objective physical activity and sleep/wake measurement solutions for the global scientific community, has announced the launch of the CentrePoint Study Admin system, an innovative new software platform that leverages cloud and mobile technologies to transform the way real‐world actigraphy data are collected and managed in pharmaceutical, clinical, and academic research settings.
Currently deployed within several large scale clinical drug trials, ActiGraph’s CentrePoint Study Admin system was developed to solve many of the complex logistical and data management challenges associated with physical activity data collection and analysis, particularly within studies that involve multiple clinical sites and/or remote data coordination centers.
CentrePoint drastically reduces personnel training requirements and data collection errors through an automated, user friendly web portal interface that supports quick and simple site setups, activity monitor deployments, and data downloads. Real‐time visibility of subjects, sites, and overall study progress lets the research team quickly identify and address potential issues that may otherwise result in invalid or missing data and costly delays. Captured data are stored in the ActiGraph cloud, which leverages existing cloud‐based technologies to provide a robust, scalable solution that implements industry best data security practices.
The CentrePoint platform includes a subject‐facing companion mobile application for iOS and Android that, in conjunction with ActiGraph’s Bluetooth‐enabled activity monitors, allows subjects to view activity feedback and/or wirelessly upload data to the system with their smart phone. For the first time ever, members of the research team can remotely monitor subject behavior and wear compliance during the data collection period. Through the CentrePoint console, researchers can send and confirm receipt of custom messages containing instructions, reminders, or other relevant information to help ensure subjects are following the study protocol and captured is valid and complete.
The CentrePoint System integrates seamlessly with ActiLife, ActiGraph’s flagship data analysis platform, to give clients instant access to raw, high resolution study data and ActiLife’s powerful analytics package. Using the ActiLife software, clients have the flexibility to clean, process, and score accelerometer data using a comprehensive selection of independently developed and validated scoring equations for various subject populations. Data can also be exported in a variety of formats that support analysis with third party programs including SAS, SPSS, and MATLAB.
“The CentrePoint system represents a new frontier for both ActiGraph and activity monitoring in general,” said Jeremy Wyatt, Vice President of Software Engineering at ActiGraph. “We’ve taken a very complex workflow and simplified it into an automated point and click system, saving time and resources and eliminating the inevitable human error factor. In addition, we’ve given researchers the ability to monitor their studies and subjects in real‐time, which means that issues can be identified during data collection ‐ while they can still be resolved ‐ rather than during post hoc analysis. Ultimately studies conducted through the CentrePoint platform run more efficiently and data quality is optimized.”
